English is widely spoken in tourist areas, hostels, and popular bars. Younger staff and fellow travelers often speak excellent English. Learn basic phrases like 'köszönöm' (thank you) and 'egészségére' (cheers), but you'll have no trouble communicating in the party districts.

Hungarians take their drinking seriously - try pálinka (fruit brandy) but be warned, it's strong! Always maintain eye contact when toasting, and never clink glasses with beer (historical taboo). Wine is excellent and cheap. Locals often drink at outdoor terraces called 'terasz' before hitting clubs.

Night buses run after metro closes (11:30 PM weekdays, 12:30 AM weekends). Taxis are cheap and safe - use Bolt or official companies. Walking in central areas is safe, especially District V and VII. The Danube riverside is beautiful but stick to well-lit paths. Most ruin bars are walking distance from each other.
